Mentoring Program Coordinator VISTA

Catholic Charities of Pittsburgh

About the organization

Catholic Charities is dedicated to championing the dignity of the person, improving the quality of life, and advocating for the social good of the human family, so that the poor and vulnerable, always welcomed and loved, embrace opportunities necessary to realize their potential. As the primary social service arm of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, we serve all regardless of religious affiliation in a manner consistent with the values and teachings of the Catholic Church. Focused on lasting solutions, we serve our communities’ critical needs with compassion, healing and hope.

Catholic Charities helps meet basic needs such as essential supplies, rental and utility assistance. We offer practical help to those who are homeless or at-risk of losing their homes. We provide free and confidential services to women who are pregnant, possibly pregnant and mothers and fathers with children under two years old. We also provide counseling and free medical services.

The Mentoring Program Coordinator will oversee the Mentoring Program as it transitions from its pilot stage to a full launch. The Coordinator will be responsible for adjusting the program structure based on initial feedback collected from pilot participants in Allegheny County. The Coordinator will oversee ongoing mentor recruitment and onboarding practices, co-facilitate appropriate orientations and trainings, and collaborate with direct service staff to identify eligible clients and establish/supervise mentor matches for eligible clients. The Coordinator will research possible areas of expansion, such as inclusion of mentoring offerings in basic technology use, as well as group mentoring options or topical lectures. The Coordinator will also work with administrative staff to explore introducing this program in the agency's other counties of operation, as well as establish protocols for yearly program evaluations and data-driven outcomes analysis.
