Medical Officer (COVID-19 RESPONSE)

Under the supervision of the Chief of the Division of Communicable Disease Control (DCDC), the Public Health Medical Officer will provide clinical and epidemiologic consultation and assistance on investigations of COVID-19 assigned to the Division. Consultation and assistance will be provided to colleagues within the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), to local public health jurisdictions, to the medical/healthcare community.

Serves as the lead of a multidisciplinary team in the Science Branch, one of the main technical expert arms of CDPH’s COVID emergency operations center, which is primarily located at CDPH’s Richmond Campus Coordination Center (RCCC).
Provides clinical consultation to local health departments, clinicians, and other healthcare partners on medical or epidemiological aspects of COVID-19 assigned to Science Branch.
Provides medical epidemiologic consultation or assistance to CDPH colleagues and local public health jurisdictions on investigations of cases, clusters, and outbreaks of COVID-19 disease as assigned.
Reviews and summarizes scientific literature on COVID-19; consult on and develop guidance on clinical aspects of COVID-19.
Manages the multidisciplinary team, including making and tracking assignments; developing/refining procedures and communication channels to improve operations of the Science Branch.
Participates on COVID-19 calls and meetings, and provides clinical COVID-19 updates, including developing and giving



Doctor of Medicine

Graduate of School of Medicine
Experience and trained in epidemiology and outbreak investigations

Active California M.D. licens
