Market System Analyst for Women in Business Program

The TechnoServe Fellow will be a core team member in the WIN team for the time that they are working on the program. As such, s/he will be given specific research briefs and partnerships to support. S/he will be expected to conduct research on women’s constraints, generate ideas to resolve their problems, support partners to develop new models and approaches that are inclusive of women, and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of new models. All members of the team, including the Fellow, need to be adaptive, flexible and able to multi-task.
Day to day, the fellow may be involved in:
Developing a strategy for WIN to intervene in a particular area, such as access to equipment
Developing publications compiling WIN approach for dissemination to global audience (for instance, how to select partners, how to select sectors in which to work)
Develop guidance notes and tools to support the private sector in engaging women (for instance, how to conduct a gender equality policy or gender training of staff)
Analyzing data from baseline and endline surveys, or partner internal data, to show the impact of WIN’s work with partners
Generating business ideas and recommended partnerships, and capturing in a concept note
Building financial models to determine financial viability of initiatives
Capturing lessons from initiatives pursued by the program, for distribution to other actors, to our donor or internally in TechnoServe.
Minimum 3-4 years work experience, management consulting experience a plus
Knowledge of (or strong desire to learn about) women’s economic empowerment programs and/or market systems development approach
Demonstrated leadership skills, teamwork and relationship building
Proven analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; able to represent TechnoServe in front of senior stakeholders
Excellent PowerPoint skills
Ability to work independently, flexibly and responsively
Able to adapt to changing working conditions
Self-directed, disciplined and driven
Unpaid - Per diem provided if traveling to country
