About the organization

The Tanzanian Children’s Fund (TCF) works to eliminate poverty and improve the lives of marginalized children and families in the Oldeani area of northern Tanzania through our non-profit organization Rift Valley Children’s Fund (RVCF). With an annual budget of approximately $3 million USD, our goal is to ensure that all children and families in this region have the opportunity to lead healthy, secure, and fulfilling lives. Through four programmatic areas - a children’s home (Rift Valley Children’s Village), a health clinic, educational partnerships with local schools, and an economic opportunity program - we endeavor to provide a community of 10,000 with all the tools, systems and opportunities they need to find a path out of generational poverty.

Duties

This is a full-time contract position, responsible for overseeing daily operations of the Rift Valley Children’s Fund (RVCF) and its programs. The Managing Director, Programs and Operations will be a member of the senior leadership team with a direct relationship with the Board of Directors. Responsibilities of the Managing Director, Programs and Operations, include but are not limited to: leadership, strategic management, financial oversight, staff management, and development.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, education, social work, public health or similar field. Master’s degree preferred.

Track record of effectively leading an international organization and staff

Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities; unwavering commitment to quality programs and achieving objectives

Candidate must be outgoing, friendly, easygoing, and open-minded to different experiences and cultures

Past experience working with a Board of Directors

Ability to manage and be accountable for the handling of confidential and sensitive information.

Ability to thrive living in a rural setting in Africa

Must love kids as you will be working on a campus home to 100 children!

Proficiency in English required. Some Swahili preferred.
