About the organization

CPI is CMS’ focal point for all national and State-wide Medicare and Medicaid programs and
integrity fraud and abuse issues related to the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). It
promotes the integrity of the Medicare and Medicaid programs and CHIP through
provider/contractor audits, policy reviews, identification and monitoring of program
vulnerabilities, and provides support and technical assistance to States. In addition, it
recommends modifications to programs and operations as necessary and works with CMS
Centers, Offices, and the Chief Operating Officer to affect changes as appropriate, and
collaborates with the Office of Legislation on the development and advancement of new
legislative initiatives and improvements to deter, reduce, and eliminate fraud, waste and abuse.

Duties

o Assist in the development of routine policies, guidelines, instructions, and procedures for administrative and management requirements.
o Apply analytical techniques to compile information and assess administrative procedures within a program or office.
o Develops routine policies, guidelines, instructions, and procedures for administrative and management requirements.
o Compile data and prepare administrative status reports for review at all levels.
o Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of managerial operations in meeting established goals and objectives.

Qualifications

• GS-07:
o Specialized Experience: One year (52 weeks) of experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level: 1) Assisting staff members in analyzing the effectiveness of management or administrative programs and 2) Preparing segments of information for inclusion into routine policies, guidelines, instructions, or procedures for administrative or management requirements.- OR -
o Substitution of Education for Experience: One full year of graduate level education. - OR -
o Superior Academic Achievement: Bachelor's degree and one of the following:
 GPA of "B" (3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale) for all completed undergraduate courses. A GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all required courses completed in your major field of study. Rank in the upper one-third of your class. Membership in a national honor society. - OR -
o Combination of Experience and Education.
GS-09:
o Specialized Experience: One year (52 weeks) of experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level: 1) Evaluating the effectiveness of management or administrative programs 2) Assisting with the development of routine policies, guidelines, instructions, or procedures for administrative or management requirements; and 3) Providing recommendations for improvement of programs, practices of, or processes. - OR -
o Substitution of Education for Experience: Master's Degree or at least 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education (LL.B. or J.D.) - OR -
o Combination of Experience and Education.

48,670 to 77,396
