The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Multifamily Housing has transitioned to a new business model. To balance the workload and ensure effectiveness of the new model, HUD is seeking talented, career driven professionals that are pursuing a challenging and rewarding career within the federal government. Multifamily Housing staff work with private sector owners and developers of apartments complexes to create safe, healthy, and affordable living conditions to over 1.4 million Americans at over 23,000 properties. The following are the duties of this position at the GS-11. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Represent the hub in negotiations with entities within HUD, other Federal agencies, industry partners and others involved in multifamily origination and development financing; implement internal policies and procedures.
- Serve as a principal technical resource staff person for the MF Regional Office; responsible for managing the efficient and effective coordination and accomplishment of planning, scoping, development design, construction, recapitalization, and financing of complex, and large multifamily insured and capital advance projects.
- Provide technical leadership for multifamily development or production team.
- Provide technical leadership and operational oversight of multifamily development and production pipeline.


You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience:
For the GS-9, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Interpreting and communicating policies or procedures of government, foundation or real estate financing programs; AND
Utilizing a range of concepts, principles, and practices to refinance, originate, or underwrite grants, mortgage loans or commercial loans.
You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
Experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
