About the organization

The Farm Production and Conservation (FPAC) Mission Area is USDA's focal point for the nation's farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners for crop insurance, conservation programs and technical assistance and credit and commodity programs, and disaster programs.

FPAC agencies implement programs designed to mitigate the significant risks of farming through crop insurance services conservation programs and technical assistance, and commodity, lending, and disaster programs.

Farm Service Agency (FSA) has two primary functions: farm programs and farm loan programs. These programs provide a full range of support to producers, from beginning farmers and ranchers who need access to loans to start up their operations to established producers who endured catastrophic weather events and need disaster assistance or a strong financial safety net.



•Farm Loan Officer Trainees are required to successfully complete all of the requirements of the Farm Loan Training Program. Farm Loan Officer Trainees may be reassigned to another training office during their training program.
•Providing technical advice, guidance, and credit counseling to loan applicants and borrowers.
•Makes recommendations on agency farm loan programs and eligibility requirements.
•Applies technical knowledge of farm financing and credit, financial management concepts and practices, farm operations, land use and value, production and marketing of various crops and livestock, and prices and markets in the serviced farming areas.
•Recommends approval or disapproval of individual loans and guarantees above delegated amounts.
•Conducts interviews with loan applicants, reviews loan applications, and makes preliminary inquiries to develop factual information to assess the eligibility of applicants.
