Duties

EnCompass LLC is seeking a Learning Specialist I TEMP to serve as one of the technical and management focal points for the Convening Workstream for the USAID-funded Generate Results within Our Work (GROW) project. Through GROW, EnCompass LLC supports the USAID Center of Excellence on Democracy, Human Rights and Governance (DRG Center) to strengthen the capacity of its staff to lead high-quality learning events. The GROW Learning Specialist I / Temp for the Convening Workstream will contribute to designs and ensure the application of high-quality standards for retreats, meetings, conferences (both in person and virtual), including serving as the Activity Manager for specific convening activities (retreats, meetings, events) and as co-producer as needed. Successful candidates will demonstrate experience in supporting complex projects with multiple, simultaneous activities, and have a positive attitude. The ideal candidate has experience in or is passionate about democracy, human rights, governance, adult learning, the facilitation, design and delivery of effective convenings, and organizational and leadership development.

The position is based at the EnCompass headquarters in Rockville, Maryland and will occasionally be expected to work from client site in the Washington DC metro area as needed.

NOTE: This position is expected to be remote until at least April 1, 2021, due to COVID-19.​​​​​​​

Qualifications

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree & 6+ years’ relevant experience; or Master’s Degree & 4+ years’ relevant experience. Degree in Training, Evaluation, Adult Education, Instructional Design, International Communication, International Development, Organizational Development, or a related field.
Experience in designing and facilitating interactive learning experiences and designing curricula based on experiential, adult-centered learning, and using blended learning and innovative technologies
Knowledge of the principles of learning including adult learning, learning styles, participatory methods, instructional design, Appreciative Inquiry, whole systems design, e-learning and related topics
Experience in e-learning design, vILT (webinar) production, and face-to-face facilitation
Adept at identifying and framing problems, setting priorities, and making critical assessments
Exceptional presentation, communication (verbal and written), and facilitation skills
Ability to confidently engage with staff and clients at all levels to define needs and expectations, collaborate on projects, and communicate results
Experience in the field of international development, working in cross-cultural environments
Fluent in the use of Adobe Connect, WebEx, and/or Zoom, as well as the Microsoft Office suite
Experience working or living overseas and ability to travel internationally preferred

Salary

Negotiable, depending on skills and experience
