K-12 Teaching and Coaching Jobs at Private/Independent Schools

Southern Teachers Agency

About the organization

Southern Teachers is the premier placement agency for private schools in the South. We have helped schools find great teachers and leaders since 1902, longer than any other service in America. Nearly 600 of the top private and independent college-prep schools in the South—from Maryland to Miami to Midland, Texas—list thousands of jobs with Southern Teachers each year as they search for the best possible teachers and administrators.

Southern Teachers serves schools of all kinds: day and boarding, nonsectarian and faith-based, urban and rural, large and small, preschool through grade twelve. We help schools hire teachers of everything from art to zoology, along with coaches, dorm advisors, media and technology specialists, counselors, admission staff, and even key administrative leaders and heads of school. Our services are entirely free for candidates.

If you are seeking a great job at a great school in the South, then we are here to help.

Duties

Are you considering your options for life after volunteering? Keep Southern Teachers in mind!
If you value close relationships, innovation, collaboration, inspiration, and a focus on student learning rather than standardized testing, you should consider teaching at an independent school.

These schools seek teachers with academic excellence and subject-area expertise who are enthusiastic about working with children and teenagers — what matters most is a gift for communicating and connecting with and caring for kids. Candidates are selected based on academic performance and experience working with children in wide-ranging capacities and teacher certification is typically not required (except in elementary grades and specialty areas).

Southern Teachers has focused on matching great candidates with schools in the South for over a century. We take the time to interview our candidates, connect with their references, and get to know the person, not just the resumé. The result: placements that help teachers, schools, and students thrive.

Why choose Southern Teachers?
· Our services are free for talented educators committed to independent schools.
· Our placement counselors are an advocate and resource throughout the process.
· Our reputation as the South’s most established teacher placement agency, serving nearly 600 southern schools from Maryland to Florida to Midland, Texas.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in a related field or education. Elementary grades and some specialty subject teachers require teacher certification.
