About the organization
StoveTeam is a nonprofit, 501c3 organization, that helps local entrepreneurs establish factories in Latin America. These self-sustaining businesses produce safe, affordable, fuel-efficient cookstoves to replace dangerous open cooking fires. Ecocina factories have produced more than 71,620 stoves, improving the lives of more than 537,150 people.
In addition STI promotes awareness of the dangers of cooking on open fires and the benefits of fuel-efficient cookstoves through various educational campaigns and other such programs in Central America.

StoveTeam seeks an enthusiastic, adventurous and motivated International Program Coordinator to join our team. The position will work to support StoveTeam’s four factories and education program in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua. This is a .5 FTE stipend pilot field position with the potential of moving to a full time salary position as the program matures. Location will primarily be in Central America with occasional work at our home office in Eugene Oregon to carry out StoveTeam’s in field programming.
Work with StoveTeam staff to develop a strong working relationship with existing factory partners in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua;
Develop new partnerships with NGOs, government and other agencies
Help carry out and expand StoveTeam’s innovative educational and awareness raising programing in Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Honduras.
Everyday activities will include:
Implement educational programs in local schools; help design and teach curriculum;
Work with StoveTeam’s factory partners to improve their business practices;
Work with Executive Director to monitor and evaluate stove designs and placed stoves to ensure success and q
Implement pilot stove dissemination programs such as micro-finance and lending circles and other innovative programs;
Work closely with Communications Manager to conceive, develop, capture and share stories from the field on ST impact, factory development, events, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Good writing skills
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and budgeting
- Highly organized, accurate and responsible
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Ability to multitask, identify priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience working with diverse groups
- Spanish fluency
- Bachelor’s degree required or highly desirable
- Strong passion and commitment for the mission of StoveTeam International
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills
- Professional and outgoing demeanor
- Ability to think creatively and critically
- Spanish fluency
$1000 per month plus housing in Antigua Guatemala and travel stipend
