Global Routes is well known as the most immersive high school abroad program on earth.

Global Routes pioneers innovative, value-driven, experiential international education and is the most immersive international program open to high school students. The New York Times calls us “one of the most respected organizations in the field.” Over 10,000 students have had transformative experiences through our industry-leading approach to authentic cross-cultural immersion, purposeful community service, and immersive travel.


-Overseeing in-country travel, food, lodging and activities

-Managing homestays, service projects and budgets

-Working with local staff, guides and organizations

-Facilitating the growth, development and safety of our program participants as an educator, leader, and mentor


-Minimum age of 24 for high school programs

-Extensive experience working with North American high school or college students (depending on program) in educational, experiential and/or recreational contexts

-Background in counseling, cross-cultural learning, wilderness/environmental education and/or classroom teaching

-Demonstrated leadership, communication and organizational skills

-Extensive international travel and/or work experience in the developing world

-Spanish language proficiency for programs in Costa Rica or Ecuador

-Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR (higher certifications desirable). These trainings will be available during staff training if necessary. Lifeguard certification required for programs that are heavy on water activities. This certification is also offered at training.

-Attend Staff Training from mid-June to late-June at our gorgeous lakeside New Hampshire HQ. Travel reimbursement is provided for attending training.
