The Temporary Associate Dean is responsible for ensuring that the school is creating a supportive environment for students and families. This includes ensuring all students are receiving the socio-emotional services that meet their needs, maximizing student attendance and supporting instruction as needed. This position will be responsible for establishing effective communication and accountability structures, managing student behavior challenges, coordinating with outside service providers and interns as needed, and assisting in leading Social Emotional Learning professional development throughout the school year. This leader will also be responsible for responding to behavioral needs and incidents. They will need to be skilled in community, restorative, and reentry circles; defining and applying logical consequences; maintaining documentation and creating thorough structures for communication with families, teachers, and admin partners. They will need to create tracking and follow-up systems for student attendance and be prepared to support instruction in classrooms as needed.
Skills + Experience:
Demonstrated commitment to students’ social emotional intelligence
Experience with varying levels of emotional intelligence and maturity in grades T-K-4th
Spanish speaking preferred
Understanding of and commitment to Restorative Justice and equity practices
Excellent Collaborative Skills
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Excellent organization, time management and follow-up skills; high sense of urgency; demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple cases concurrently
Strong ability to bring a team together: Staff, Students, and Families
Ability to deal with obstacles and constraints positively
School experience is preferred
Bachelor’s degree required
