At United Way of North Idaho, we envision a community that works together to ensure children succeed in school, individuals live healthy lives, and everyone has the opportunity to achieve financial well-being. Our AmeriCorps VISTA project focuses on Education and Economic Opportunity through capacity-building, fundraising, and volunteer coordination and recruitment at a variety of dynamic nonprofits across the state of Idaho.
United Way of North Idaho is the lead project sponsor for the Idaho for Healthy Roots Education and Economic Opportunity VISTA Project. The Idaho for Healthy Roots project takes our holistic vision of a thriving community and puts it into action through capacity-building at host sites across the state. Our members serve at United Way of Southeast Idaho, United Way of Idaho Falls and Bonneville County, the Lincoln County Youth Center, the Human Rights Education Institute, the Coeur d'Alene School District, Gizmo-CDA Makerspace, the Saint Vincent de Paul Envision Center, and Family Promise of North Idaho and Family Promise of the Palouse. As VISTA Leader, your role with the Idaho for Healthy Roots project will be to support our VISTA members so they can do their best work at their various service sites. You will also promote collaboration and team-building within the project. This looks like ensuring each VISTA has connected with and understands AmeriCorps service benefits, providing mentorship and guidance as they navigate their professional development and challenges at site, and connecting them with professional development opportunities and resources both as individuals and as a team. You will also support site supervisors in their navigation of the AmeriCorps online recruitment process and offer program feedback to improve the overall project.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Prior AmeriCorps and/or Peace Corps experience
Strong Leadership and conflict resolution skills
Experience with formal and/or informal mentorship
Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams (or ability to quickly learn)
Understanding of performance measure data collection and processing (such as how to disaggregate data)
A growing personal antiracist practice
Living stipend and Education Award or end-of-service cash stipend
