Volpe seeks a Human Resources (HR) Assistant in the Workforce Acquisition and Staffing Branch within the Office of Human Resources. The HR Assistant provides technical and administrative support to the team in recruitment and staffing functions, with overall responsibility for researching, coordinating, and processing personnel actions including onboarding of new hires, promotions, updating employee status changes, transfers and reassignments using the Federal Personnel Payroll System (FPPS).

The ideal candidate has excellent communication, writing and computer skills and demonstrates great attention to detail. A background assisting an organization with the facilitation of onboarding of new staff and experience implementing, managing, and updating an automated human resources staffing system is a plus. This positions duty station is in Cambridge, MA.


Exp for GS-06: one year of:
• Experience providing administrative support related to human resources programs such as responding to internal staff inquiries to resolve personnel and payroll issues and researching human resources policy and procedures and preparing necessary documents.
• Experience using software programs (e.g., Microsoft Office) and automated systems to initiate, track, and complete personnel related actions.

Exp for GS-07:, one year of:
• Experience providing technical support to human resources programs such as reviewing and processing personnel actions, so they comply with rules, regulations, and automated system requirements; researching and responding to customer inquiries on human resources policies; and developing solutions to resolve customer and operational issues.
• Experience using software programs (e.g., Microsoft Office) and automated systems to initiate, track, and complete personnel related actions.
