This are developmental Human Resources Assistant positions that works to support Forest Service employees and managers. The position duties include at least one of the following: Recruitment & Placement (Staffing), Classification, Benefits and Retirement, Workers’ Compensation, HR Processing, Pay and Compensation, Customer Service, Employee/Labor Relations, and/or Personnel Security (background investigations & suitability).
College education is not required for this occupational series, but beneficial in qualifying for the position. A bachelor’s degree in any major or concentration is qualifying to GS-05. All positions have promotion potential to GS-07, i.e., GS-05/06/07. Eligible for full federal benefits to include health care, dental/vision, paid holidays, sick and annual leave (vacation), Dual Retirement: FERS (pension) and TSP (401K style account) with 5% match. Many talented HR Assistants eventually are promoted, through competitive processes, to HR Specialists and related roles at higher grades.
Ideally these developmental positions are in Albuquerque, NM, though virtual offerings (near a FS duty station) may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
College education is not required for this occupational series, but beneficial in qualifying for the position. A bachelor’s degree in any major or concentration is qualifying to GS-05. Candidates with related expeience instead of college education may be considered.
