About the organization

The Kansas City Public Library has been granted the opportunity by AmeriCorps to serve as an intermediary sponsor—The Library VISTA Project. As an intermediary, the Library partners with local organizations serving as AmeriCorps member host sites. AmeriCorps members provide a year of service, bringing their passion and perseverance where the need is greatest: to organizations that help eradicate poverty. Library VISTA Project members serve in a professional setting building partnerships, raising awareness, writing grants, organizing volunteers, and more.

Duties

Hope Faith AmeriCorps VISTA Member will work to increase operations effectiveness and efficiency with our Hope Feeds Program for those who are experiencing homelessness or are at-risk. This will be done through observing current processes and improving upon them through creating and implementing inventory controls, building upon existing relationships with our meal donation partners, as well as working alongside the Executive Chef to create new partnerships. The Hope Feeds Specialist will also learn the ins and outs of proper meal preparation procedures in order to assist the Executive Chef and Lead Cook with setting volunteers up for success when they are serving in the kitchen.

Qualifications

Must be 18 years or older, legally able to work in the United States, and must be able to pass a background check.

$1200 per month
