The mission of the University Academy Charter High School is based on the philosophy that everyone can make a contribution to the betterment of the world and individuals working together can truly help make a significant difference. The school is dedicated to engaging young people in an academic experience designed to encourage a need to explore their world, a deep desire for knowledge and a passionate commitment to justice and service to others. Central to the philosophy is the utilization of a historic approach to the education of the students as they interact with the city, New Jersey City University and the community through service projects.
Teach 5-6 46-minute periods of history, sociology, geography, and/or criminal justice to classes of no more than 20 9-12 grade students. Design and implement engaging, interactive lessons that help them develop their knowledge of history and society and critical thinking skills. Create positive, student-centered learning environment that facilitates the completion of goals and objectives particular to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards. Please submit resume, cover letter, and copy of all relevant NJ certifications. Position begins late August 2022 for 2022-2023 school year.
NJDOE Teacher of Social Studies Standard Certificate or CE/CEAS. Candidates with OUT-OF-STATE licenses: You MUST have ALREADY applied to the NJDOE for reciprocity and be able to submit a screenshot of your application status to be considered for this position.
