About the organization
The City of Memphis AmeriCorps VISTA Team is a group of AmeriCorps VISTAs coordinated by the City of Memphis. Our mission is to strengthen organizations that alleviate poverty through volunteering and the mobilization of resources. We work throughout Memphis to end poverty through capacity building and innovation. Our team is part of a nationwide program sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service, a federal agency, that engages over 5,000 people in service with AmeriCorps VISTA every year. Our members have been retired persons, mid-life career changers, recent graduates, and everything in between.
We tackle poverty by building the capacity of nonprofit organizations throughout Memphis. City of Memphis AmeriCorps VISTA Members expand economic & affordable housing opportunities and increase workforce development in economically disadvantaged communities.
