Who We Are

Live It Learn It (LILI) is a DC-based non-profit that partners with schools and cultural institutions to create and deliver experiential learning (EL) opportunities for students in order to increase their self-efficacy, build on their intrinsic motivation, and support their scholarly achievements.

Each year, we serve 2,100+ 3rd-5th grade students in Title I (high-poverty) DC public schools. We also conduct professional development for teachers.

The Head of Fundraising is accountable for building LILI’s revenue base through maintaining its current level of grants and finding new sources of foundation revenue, nurturing relationships with individual donors and corporations, and staging events and taking other initiatives in support of these goals. The position holder will work closely with the Executive Director and some Board members.

The position, which is exempt, is based in the Washington DC area. LILI operates a flexible work policy that requires employees to spend time at its DC office but also enables them to work at home for some of the working week, depending on the needs of the job. LILI operates on a 40-hour week, but all employees are expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of our students. This position requires occasional travel to meet with donors and institutions in the DC area but is mainly office/home office based.

A passion for and commitment to the transformation of young children’s lives through education.

5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, ideally in the DC area.

Evidence of strong strategic thinking skills.

Evidence of effective project planning and management skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

An understanding of how to research and write grants.

People management abilities.

A good understanding of budget management skills and a high degree of facility with numbers.

Demonstrable collaboration and other effective group skills.


$60-65,000 depending on experience and initial fit with the requirements of the position.
