About the organization
HandsOn Greater Phoenix is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that puts volunteers to work where they are needed most.
We envision a day in which all people realize their power to make a difference and are actively engaged in their communities.
In 1990, Marty Moore was looking for opportunities to volunteer, but working as a young real estate broker with limited free time made it difficult to find community-based organizations that could use his help. In 1993, Marty gathered some friends and started Make A Difference, an organization with the mission to meet critical community needs while creating volunteer opportunities especially designed for working people. Since then, we have experienced tremendous growth and are now HandsOn Greater Phoenix, the Valley's premier volunteer organization.

Join the Arizona Sustainability Alliance to help raise awareness and volunteerism to improve access to healthy food for low income communities across the valley! We are looking for an applicant that has some knowledge and experience in writing, marketing, creation of outreach materials, and/or public relations. Familiarity with sustainability and environmental justice is a plus. The successful candidate should be organized, accountable, able to manage their time well, and a good communicator. Over your service year you will develop an annual press release plan, help increase volunteerism by creating materials that will help design tailored communications, develop and document contacts and systems that will lead to new organizational partnerships, along with other activities. Join a growing sustainability nonprofit and bring your skills to support the elimination of low access to healthy food in Arizona!

ABOUT HandsOn Greater Phoenix: For nearly 25 years, HandsOn Greater Phoenix has worked with nonprofits, Title I schools, neighborhood associations and government entities to assess and meet the volunteer needs of the Greater Phoenix area. The HandsOn VISTA program supports 20 VISTA members at multiple placement sites across the valley. Our VISTA members enable our community service partners to expand capacity and build lasting infrastructure by creating the processes and tools needed to effectively access and utilize valuable resources. HandsOn VISTA members will improve their own capacity for leading communities during and beyond their terms of service by developing their knowledge, skills, and abilities related to volunteer mobilization, civic engagement, and other areas.
