HandsOn AmeriCorps COVID Response Program

HandsOn Greater Phoenix

About the organization

HandsOn Greater Phoenix is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that empowers people to become engaged, take action and create positive change in their communities. We envision a day in which all people realize their power to make a difference and are actively engaged in their communities. Right now, we think one of the most important ways we can serve our community is by supporting the vaccine efforts in our State with volunteers. To that end, we are partnering with Arizona State University Research Enterprise and others at the ASU Desert Financial Arena, State Farm Stadium, DexCom and Yuma Civic Center to register and schedule volunteers for the next few months. In the early weeks we had a surplus of volunteers, but now that the vaccine is available to the general population, we have a volunteer shortage. Please consider volunteering during this historic time to help all Arizonans access the vaccine.

Duties

Join the front lines of the pandemic response and serve your community by helping vaccine distribution by becoming a HandsOn AmeriCorps COVID Response member!

The HandsOn AmeriCorps COVID Response members will work alongside vaccination point of distribution (POD) staff and medical professionals to ensure smooth, safe, and friendly operations for everyone. Members will assist with registration and check-in process, locating patient information, trouble-shooting registration issues, and scheduling follow up appointments, along with other logistics and non-medical tasks that make the POD sights run. Members will complete 300 hours of service over the program period averaging about 30 hours a week, being able to determine their own shifts from a number of preset set options mostly during weekdays.

If state and county vaccination sites are closed before the end of the program period other pandemic response volunteer opportunities will be offered to complete your hours, such as assisting food banks or helping with emergency heat response.
