North Cascades National Park Service Complex is filling a career seasonal GS-9 Park Ranger (I) position in the Lake Chelan National Recreation Area located in Stehekin, WA. The anticipated start date for this position is April 1, 2020. Annual hours will be approximately 1360 (17 pp) with a 4 month furlough Nov-Feb. This position is not being advertised on Usajobs.
This position works in the Division of Visitor Services (Interpretation, Education, and Commercial Services) with primary duties that include providing and overseeing interpretive operations and cooperating association sales. Additional responsibilities include coordinating 2-7 seasonal staff, assisting with special events, and coordinating and scheduling Red Bus Tour programs with the park concessionaire. Visitation in Lake Chelan National Recreation Area is approximately 45,000, primarily in the months of May-September. Along with traditional interpretation, this position offers the opportunity to work within the EMS structure of the park complex, non personal services (website, social media, and interpretive media development) as well as partnerships.
Candidates with EMS experience and certifications is a plus.
We are looking for someone currently eligible for permanent conversion via Pathways, Peace Corp, VRA, VISTA, or currently has status and is interested in a lateral move to NOCA.
