Duties

The City of Billings - Community Development Division is seeking a Grants Technician to assist in the administration of an AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) project and other poverty-impact initiatives such as First Time Home Buyer and Home Repair programs. The Community Development Division is a progressive, innovative office dedicated to implementing programs to support lower-income households.

The successful applicant will: provide technical and clerical support to assigned Division staff; provide assistance to the general public, other City staff, a variety of outside government agencies, and private sector organizations; and perform a variety of technical duties involved in administering community development and anti-poverty programs (grant applications, administration, monitoring, reporting).

The successful applicant must have the ability to multi-task with strong writing, editing, organizational and interpersonal skills. This position is contingent on the availability of continued grant funding.

Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
• Two year degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public or business administration, planning or a related field.
• Two years of related work experience in federal grants administration, implementation, monitoring and regulatory compliance.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

Preferred Qualifications:
• A four year degree.
• Three years of related work experience in federal grants administration, implementation, monitoring and regulatory compliance.

Salary

Salary: $18.44 - $19.39/hour plus excellent benefits (this salary range reflects Step 1 and 2 of a 7 step pay scale). A 5% step increase is issued each year until the employee has reached Step 7 and annual cost of living raises are also possible.
