About the organization
For more than 50 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver has been there for kids and families when they need us most: after school, all day in the summer, and even during the school day. Our membership is open to all youth ages 6-18, and our Club members have access to a wealth of programming that has the power to positively shape and change their lives.
BGCMD operates a residential summer program where under-served inner city youth, ages 8 to 13, attend 5 day/4 night low cost, and in many cases, no cost, session. Kids/Campers participate in hiking, canoeing, sleeping under the stars, fishing, rock climbing, archery, hands-on games, and other outdoor activities. The Gates Camp program inspires kids to explore new ideas, develop a connection with the environment, work as a community, and support one another in the achievement of their personal potential. We are currently hiring Camp Counselors to live and work at Gates Camp between the dates of May 21st and July 28th.
BGCMD requires the following of all Camp employees:
• Staff members must be at least 19 years of age
• Previous camp, volunteer or relevant educational experience preferred, but not required
• Ability to pass pre-employment screenings including drug test which does test for marijuana, criminal background check, references and Department of Motor Vehicle records check
All Camp Counselors must:
• Supervise campers and maintain a safe environment
• Work in concert with the Camp’s Directors and other Staff Members
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Camp Directors
• Teach and lead indoor and outdoor recreational and educational activities
• Work well with others and be able to manage conflict resolution situations appropriately
• Have excellent social and communication skills

The successful candidate must be able to work at high altitude (at or above 9,000 ft.), walk long distances on uneven terrain, have stamina to work through long days, and have the ability to perform basic maintenance functions. The Camp Counselor may, at times, have to lift up to and over 50lbs.

2250-3800 per season

Hours: 5 day a week commitment
Pay Range: $2250 - $3800 (based on experience) for the season plus a $400 bonus upon successful completion of the program.
