About the organization

The Florida Statewide VISTA Program hosted by Florida State University aligns with the mission of the Corporation for National and Community Service and AmeriCorps VISTA by placing VISTA members with colleges, universities and community-based organizations in order to eliminate poverty in local communities. The Florida Statewide AmeriCorps VISTA Program provides resources, networking opportunities, and training for VISTA members. VISTA members work to combat poverty through leveraging higher education resources to build the capacity of local non-profit organizations and through recruiting and training college students to provide college access mentoring for low income youth. FSAVP VISTA members are successfully building bridges between the classrooms and communities by connecting educators, students, and community partners to improve education and address societal needs through campus-community partnerships, applied civic education, and engaged citizenship.

Duties

As the leader of 40+ VISTA members serving across the state of Florida, this role will work in the following ways to ensure an impactful, meaningful, and successful year of service for all VISTA members: Member training and technical assistance: organize and conduct project's training, coordinate technical assistance to/for VISTA members, and develop educational resources for VISTA members. Networking, marketing, and member recruitment: foster networking between VISTA members, assist in coordination of the recruitment of project sites to host VISTA members and recruitment of VISTA members. Assist with assessing and improving site performance: assist project supervisor with site visits, document sustainability of project sites. VISTA Leader development: complete VISTA Leader Training, complete orientation to FSAVP, professional development opportunities throughout the year.

Qualifications

The start date for this position is August 31st, 2020 and based upon the availability of the qualified candidate having completed a full year of service as either a VISTA member, an AmeriCorps State and National member (1700 hour term), an NCCC member or at least one traditional term of service as a Peace Corps Volunteer - RPCV's who completed partial terms due to COVID-19 will also be eligible, dependent on time served.

Salary

$1,212.12 per month pre-tax (additional reimbursement provided for relocation, settling in, and End Of Service Award)
