Duties

The University of Nevada, Reno, Extension is recruiting a full-time Lecturer II / Teaching Assistant Professor (12-month, Non-Tenure Track) OR Assistant Professor (12-month, Tenure Track), Extension Educator for the Lyon County Extension Office located in Yerington, NV.

The primary role of the Extension Educator is to establish a community-based education program focused on community development, children, youth and families, horticulture/agriculture, natural resources, and health and nutrition. Duties of the position include assessing community needs, developing and implementing relevant educational programming, and documenting program outcomes and impacts. Since Lyon County has growing and changing communities, the candidate will provide expertise in community development. This position provides oversight of the 4-H staff and program and serves as the local university liaison with the county government.

Qualifications

Lecturer II - Master’s degree in one of the following broad fields: Community Development, Rural Sociology, Economics or other related degree program.

Teaching Assistant Professor - Terminal Degree, degree in one of the following broad fields: Community Development, Rural Sociology, Economics or other related degree program.

Assistant Professor - A Ph.D. degree in one of the following broad fields: Community Development, Rural Sociology, Economics or other related degree program.

This position requires performing manual labor, lifting heavy objects greater than 20 pounds, driving long distances, working in inclement weather, working alone for extended periods and interacting collegially with small and large teams.

Must have a valid Nevada Driver's License within 30 days of employment.
