Who We Are

Live It Learn It (LILI) is a DC-based non-profit that partners with schools and cultural institutions to create and deliver experiential learning (EL) opportunities for students in order to increase their self-efficacy, build on their intrinsic motivation, and support their scholarly achievements.

Each year, we serve 2,100+ 3rd-5th grade students in Title I (high-poverty) DC public schools. We also conduct professional development for teachers.

Job Summary

The Experiential Learning Educator - Curriculum Lead (ELE) position is one of three positions responsible for delivering the highest quality programming for LILI and transforming the lives of the children LILI serves. This particular position also includes the lead responsibility for creating, updating, and maintaining LILI’s curricula. Curricula and teaching will be delivered as in-person and virtual products.

The position, which is exempt, is based in the Washington DC area. LILI operates a flexible work policy that requires employees to spend time at its DC office, but also enables them to work at home for some of the working week, depending on the needs of the job. LILI operates on a 40-hour week, but all employees are expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of our students. For its in-person EL program work, this position requires travel to various schools and destination sites in the DC area. LILI provides cars for ELEs to use with a valid drivers license, when needed. For virtual programming, ELEs are responsible for creating a quiet environment from which to program. Office space is available for this, if needed.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Demonstrable passion for and commitment to the transformation of young children’s lives through education.

Substantive evidence of high-level skills in using experiential learning to achieve observable change in children’s approach to learning and in their learning achievements.

Evidence of skills in delivering learning through virtual means and familiarity with teaching platforms, including Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Understanding of and experience in EL-based curricula development, both virtual and in-person.
Teaching certification desirable.

Evidence of a clear understanding of ABAR principles.

Demonstrable collaboration and other effective group skills.

High-level oral and written communication skills, as well as attention to detail.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with past experience in both giving and receiving constructive feedback.


$50-55,000 depending on experience and initial fit with the requirements of the position.
