WORD is a feminist organization committed to women’s empowerment through education, outreach, public policy, and political advocacy. Our mission is Strengthening our community by creating opportunities that support and inspire women.

Through our programs, we offer support, education, and training to empower women and their families to move from a place of need to a place of independence, participation and choice. Our programs promote women’s access to stable housing, adequate income, personal/career development, family/school involvement and the creation of policies for social change.

Duties

WORD seeks to hire a strong Director to lead the organization forward in its commitment to feminist values and a socially just world, articulate WORD’s vision and goals to the community, oversee the day-to-day management of the organization, and identify fundraising and grant opportunities which allow WORD to fulfill its goals.

The Director’s responsibilities will include fundraising and grant writing, fiscal management, strategic planning, promoting a cooperative team environment within the organization, and a collaborative approach in the community. The Director works closely with the Program Directors, the Fiscal Director and the WORD Board of Directors. The Director oversees day-to-day management, agency budgets, and regularly reports on current operations to the Board of Directors. The Director reports directly to the WORD Board of Directors.

Qualifications

Candidate must demonstrate experience with non-profit & fiscal management; grant-writing & grant management; supervision and staff training; and strong communication skills. Candidates must demonstrate experience with developing innovative fundraising campaigns and identifying and cultivating donors.

Demonstrated experience in leadership and fundraising. Degree in relevant field. Master’s degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
