Texas Campaign for the Environment

About the organization

As the largest and most successful environmental lobby in the state, Texas Campaign for the Environment works to promote the democratic process, where the voice of the people - not corporate lobbyists - shapes the policies that affect our environment and public health. We are hiring community organizers who work to build our movement through grassroots organizing by educating the public and empowering citizens to get involved. Currently our team of organizers are engaging Austin residents in taking action against poorly run landfills and working to promote zero-waste initiatives throughout the city.

Our staff consists of committed, professional, highly skilled activists. New employees and interns receive extensive training and continuing support on issue knowledge and campaign skills. All staff members attend regular briefings given by political or environmental authorities throughout the Austin community or from within our organization. We have a strong and early focus on staff career development that involves travel and management training opportunities.
We are looking for passionate and motivated individuals to organize these local grassroots campaigns. Job responsibilities include educating the public and building the support we need to win through organizing petition signatures, public comments, and fundraising. Ideal candidates should have strong communication skills, great leadership qualities, and a true passion for environmental and social justice issues.
