About the organization
The IndyEast Promise Zone is located in Indianapolis Indiana and led by the John Boner Neighborhood Center. Promise Zones are high-poverty, high capacity communities where the federal government works with local leaders to increase efforts and achieve neighborhood-created goals and priorities over a ten-year period. VISTA members will work with the well-established development team throughout their term of service and will be connected with partners at all levels (neighborhood, city, state, federal) while taking part in professional development opportunities. The Education and Workforce Development Strategist will work with Promise Zone Director and co-chairs of the Learn IndyEast and Work IndyEast committees to achieve the Promise Zone plan goals related to Education and Workforce Development. The VISTA member will build capacity of the committees by leading committee and working group meetings and fostering the functions of the committees. The VISTA member will plan and implement a strategy that engages the community in education and workforce strategies. Finally, the Education and Workforce Development Strategist will work with staff and committees to research, plan and develop partnerships to support education and workforce goals.
