About the organization

Eastern Shore Area Agency on Aging/Community Action Agency is a community based non-profit organization committed to providing comprehensive, high quality human services. The VISTA will assist ESAAA to create a fundraising and development plan to ensure longevity of ESAAA programming, with a focus on youth programming. The Stay Focused Outreach Program works with under-served youth in the service area, most of whom will be in poverty, in order to give them experiences and motivation to continue on a path to furthering their education and obtaining living wage jobs. The VISTA, with oversight from the supervisor, will use the needs gathered from the assessment to create materials and to develop outcome scales to assess and monitor youth programming results. This VISTA placement is with the Virginia Community Action VISTA project, through the Virginia Department of Social Services.

Duties

The VISTA member will develop marketing materials to present and strengthen a positive image of Eastern Shore Area Agency on Aging/Community Action Agency (ESAAA) to the community. The VISTA will assist in the recruitment and training efforts of volunteer staff in addition to creating a fundraising plan to help ensure the continuation of ESAAA programs, with a focus on youth programs.The VISTA will review current website and make needed changes. The VISTA will initiate, develop and conduct surveys, focus groups and interviews to determine the most pressing needs of at risk youth within our two-county region and to discuss next steps with agency leadership. The VISTA will use the analyzed information collected from focus groups, surveys and interviews to initiate dialogue regarding gaps in service and to coordinate and develop initiatives and programs with community partners.

Approx $513 biweekly
