For over 70 years, Friends of Youth has been driven by a belief that all youth should have every opportunity to succeed, and partners with youth and families to provide the relationships, resources, and skills they need to attain personal growth and success. With 24 program sites serving 18 cities in the Puget Sound Region, Friends of Youth provides safe places and emotional support for youth facing difficult circumstances, including homelessness, foster care, and behavioral health challenges. Provide support to young people accessing Shelter and Drop-In Center services at the Redmond Youth Service Center; this includes support young people in accessing food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and other basic need items.
Develop and maintain respectful, professional and culturally responsive relationships with young people, while utilizing a trauma informed, harm reduction and strength-based approach.
Listen to and communicate verbally and in writing with clients, colleagues and community partners; maintain written record keeping as required by program.
Provide direct service by checking guests into the RYSC Shelter or Drop-In Center, referring young people to appropriate resources, initiating intake paperwork, and providing a safe, caring, and non-judgmental environment for guests.
Maintain RYSC operations and support by organizing food and resources, assisting with laundry and dish washing duties, and maintaining a record of items distributed to guests.
Experience working with youth and young adults; experience working with young people experiencing homelessness or housing instability preferred. Lived experience with homelessness or housing instability may substitute work experience.
Education or experience in equity and culturally responsive care preferred.
$17 Per Hour
