Director of Creativity and Production

The Anou Cooperative

About the organization

The Anou Cooperative is a community of artisans working together to build an artisan centered, 21st century craft economy in Morocco. Our cooperative is powered by our online marketplace that enables all artisans, regardless of literacy or geographic location, to sell their work directly to customers around the world. Further, our cooperative is fully managed and owned by artisans from our community.

About Anou Directors

Due to our artisan managed and owned structure, we seek directors to first and foremost support the growth of our artisan team to ensure that artisans themselves can fully manage the operations and growth of the Anou Cooperative. Each director must be willing and able to work behind the scenes and through the artisan team to achieve the wider objectives of the Anou Cooperative. An example of this, it is not the role of the Director to design for the artisan but to enable the artisans to design for themselves. This position is a non-traditional director role.

Main Responsibilities:

-Provide in person support to artisans, cooperatives and associations across Morocco in the development of their designs.

-Develop processes to provide remote design support that is scalable to thousands of artisans across Morocco.

-Support the Anou Cooperative in the design and development of collaboration tools that connect artisans with designers and their customers.

-Support the Anou Cooperative in the identification and sourcing of high quality craft materials.

-Develop a team of artisan leaders specialized in providing design support to artisans across the community.

-Manage Anou’s Design Studio in David Beach and our upcoming studio in Marrakech.

-Fluency in English and Arabic or Berber. Exceptions can be made for highly qualified candidates and candidates motivated to learn languages on the job. Language training can be provided.

-Degree or several years professional experience in design preferred.

-Moroccan national, Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, or Anou Supporter/Volunteer, heavily preferred.
