Cardno Emerging Markets USA, Ltd. (Cardno) is seeking a Development Specialist (DS) to join our Economic Growth and Governance team. We are searching for an enthusiastic and entrepreneurial high performer who has a passion for international development and experience in a dynamic office environment.
The DS will contribute to project management and business development opportunities. Primary responsibilities include:
Serve as project coordinator for overseas projects—overseeing administrative, contractual, human resources and financial aspects of projects;
Work with the Finance Department to track project spending and develop financial forecasts;
Maintain project databases;
Review subcontractor and consultants’ invoices and expense reports;
Recruit and mobilize consultants;
Provide operational and administrative assistance in program start up and close out;
Conduct research, as needed;
Manage project deliverables and reports;
Conduct data analysis and prepare draft reports for senior staff.
Serve as proposal coordinator; research and write sections of project proposals;
Contribute to proposal and pre-proposal development efforts in research and other areas as required;
Liaise with recruiters and field staff to identify the best candidates for upcoming projects.
B.A./BS. in business, international development/affairs, economics, or related field;
A minimum of three years of experience in a backstopping or an administrative role relevant to the international development field;
Strong analytical and computer skills, including spreadsheet and financial tracking;
Ability to work in a team environment;
Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
Strong interpersonal skills;
Strong attention to detail skills;
Strong writing skills, which will be assessed during the hiring process;
Excellent conceptual skills;
Proficiency in the English language required; and
Permanent U.S. work authorization required.
Strong language skills in French, Spanish or Portuguese. Other languages spoken in the developing world will be considered;
Experience in economic growth issues preferred, inclusive of private sector development, international trade, and business enabling environment;
Relevant overseas work or internship experience in a developing country context; and
Experience with USAID-funded and /or other donor-funded projects strongly preferred
