About the organization

The North Star Council on Aging (NSCOA) strives to meet the needs of seniors 60 years older by providing services which enhance and promote quality of life, self-determination, independent living, and dignity. Some of the NSCOA services include: operating the Fairbanks Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, the Homemaker Program, Helping Hands Home Modifications, Supplemental Food Program, Heating Assistance Program, and housing the Aging & Disability Resource Center.


The Development Coordinator VISTA will: 1. Explore opportunities for expansion of existing programs and development of new programs 2. Research best practices for proposed new services 3. Help draft policies for new NSCOA programs 4. Seek out and write grants 5. Recruit and manage volunteers for NSCOA programs 6. Manage NSCOA social media pages and increase awareness through social media 7. Represent NSCOA in meetings 8. Engage local stakeholders in combined efforts to best serve the senior citizens in and around Fairbanks


Education: high school diploma/GED

Minimum age: 18

Ability to integrate into the Fairbanks community and excitement to fight poverty through local nonprofit work!
