About the organization

The Literacy KC VISTA Program seeks to address illiteracy through a concentration on traditional literacy as well as health literacy, financial literacy, and digital literacy. The VISTA members and organizations that participate in the Literacy KC VISTA Program take a holistic, collaborative approach to literacy, building the organizations’ capacity to serve their clients, and addressing poverty in the Kansas City metropolitan area.


This VISTA will facilitate program services to the low-income and homeless needing eye-care in the metropolitan Kansas City area and increase capacity of the organization to meet greater demand. The VISTA will develop and utilize communications, engagement, and fund development plans tailored to partner organizations, donors, volunteers, and sponsors. Additionally, the VISTA will support and coordinate volunteers for training, events, and further outreach and recruitment. The VISTA will also support services to patients to enhance the quality, value, and consistency of services provided by KCFEC. This role is one that will help to transform KCFEC from a small organization to one with a solid foundation. Begins August 2019.


Candidates must be 18 or older, and pass a background check.


Bi-Weekly Living Allowance, with End-Of-Service Award.
