The Deputy Director provides overall leadership and management of Health Informatics and Population Health Data Science to ensure program compliance with departmental policies. The incumbent develops general program policy with a major emphasis on the scientific aspects and health issues of the program. Provides oversight of public health informatics in the Department related to improving population health and individual health status. This includes applying public health informatics principles to support public health registries, public health surveillance and investigations, quality improvement, and program evaluation. Oversees the use of population health data science and clinical and public health data systems to inform policy decisions which improve the health status of Californians and to support and manage the CDPH programs.
Oversees the governance and use of an enterprise-wide shared data infrastructure for CDPH Divisions and programs in support of shared data and analytics opportunities to advance population health data science across CDPH. Opportunities include decision intelligence and modern public health surveillance system(s) that leverage a shared data and analytics infrastructure supporting public health use cases and decision-making across CDPH programs.
