The intern will be working within our Data Hub team to provide data analysis and data visualization support, organize hackathons, identify sponsors and prizes, promote/engage in social media, develop new data analysis and visualizations, and provide general support. The intern will gain valuable experience in the areas of new business development, strategy, and the intersection of innovation, data visualization analytics, and technology. Preferred interest and experience in geo spatial mapping.

Organize and promote hackathons
Create engagement on social media and promote sign ups from students
Platform management (including registering new members, troubleshooting, running reports, creating new campaigns, and migrating data to new platform)
Knowledge management support (including migrating idea information to MS Project, maintaining related Data and Innovation websites, SharePoint pages and related databases, and developing briefs on QED's innovations)
Support the data hub team in providing data science applications
Research and business development support (including development of capability statements)
Support to the development of the innovation process and strategy (including transcription of interviews and focus groups)
Coordinate administrative needs and events for QED’s Center for Global Data Visualization
Event support as needed
There will be opportunities for the intern to design their own research strategy, under the guidance of their Manager


Recently completed, or pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Graphic Design Economics, International Relations, or similar field
Good understanding of data structures and data visualization techniques
Experience with geo-spatial mapping
Interest in learning about international development generally, and specifically in learning about USAID development objectives
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Experience with using software to generate concise summary reports and graphics from large data sets
Excellent research skills
Strong organizational skills and demonstrable ability to prioritize among multiple competing requests
Able to produce high quality work under deadline


$20 per hour
