Duties

Customer Service Representatives provide both in-person and telephone assistance to the public on a wide variety of subjects. CSRs analyze and investigate situations to secure facts and reconcile discrepancies. Cases are often complex and complicated by frequent changes in the law. Detail oriented individuals with strong communication skills enjoy the Service Representative position.

Entry into these positions is typically at the GS-5 with advancement opportunity within the position to the GS-8 level. There are numerous career development opportunities in SSA.
