The majority of positions at Social Security involve working directly with the public, and positions are located throughout the country. Our Public Contact Representatives receive extensive training and mentoring in Social security programs and State laws. We are passionate about supporting our customers by delivering financial support andproviding superior customer service.
Customer Service Representatives (CSR) provided both in-person and telephone assistance to the public on a wide variety of subjects. CSRs analyze and investigate situations to secure facts and reconcile discrepancies. Cases are often complex and complicated by frequent changes in law. Detail oriented individuals with strong communication skills enjoy the Service Representative position.
Entry into these positions is typically at the GS-5 with advancement opportunity within the position to the GS-8 level. There are numerous career development opportunities in SSA.
