Our schools are small, tightly-knit families where every child is known, guided by an individual learning plan and loved by an adult mentor.


-Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking trash out, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces
-Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets
-Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks, and surfaces touched by students and staff
-Restock disposables (e.g. soap, paper towels)
-Wipe mirrors and windows
-Perform maintenance and minor repairs (replacing bulbs, minor wall damage, fixing door handles, minor leaks etc.)
-Report major damages and oversee repairs
-Ensure exterior facilities are in good repair and that parking lot, playground, and landscaping is tidy
-Secure facilities after operating hours by locking gates, turning off lights and setting up the alarm after checking everyone has vacated the building
-Undertake occasional tasks such as removing snow from the sidewalk, transporting heavy items, moving chairs, etc.


Knowledge, Skills and Characteristics:
-Knowledge of use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and appliances
-Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
-Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices
-Attention to detail and conscientiousness

Education and Experience:
-Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role
-High school diploma is preferred but not required
