The Forest Service is a federal agency under the U.S. Department of Agriculture that manages 193 million acres of land, roughly the size of Texas. We manage public lands in the form of national forests and grasslands, provide technical and financial assistance to state and private forestry agencies and make up the largest forestry research organization in the world. The Forest Service, Southern Region encompasses 13 States—from Virginia to Florida and Oklahoma – as well as Puerto Rico. Also known as Region 8, the Southern Region is one of nine geographical regions within the Forest Service. There are 16 units within the Southern Region, including 14 National Forests and two special units. Serves as Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) in support of Region 8 Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) funded projects. Current certification as a Level I (or higher) FAC-COR is highly desired.
Performs contract administration on assigned, prioritized projects, working with assigned Contracting Officers, GAOA Project Managers, forest engineering and support staff, contract inspectors, and contractors.
Provides contract document review support prior to solicitation and assist with solicitation preparation.
Works with and supports the RO GAOA Strike Team on project monitoring and reporting requirements.
Supports requests for assistance with accomplishment reporting.
Experience with construction administration and civil engineering infrastructure work, such as roads, facilities (buildings), water and wastewater projects.

Travel Required: Travel to any forest within the region may occur, and for extended periods of time, depending on project assignments.
May be hired as GS-0802 9/10/11 or GS-0810 9/11.
