Classroom ELF Teacher in an Afterschool Program

American Language Center

About the organization

The American Language Center of Tangier has been teaching English in Tangier for over 50 years. In addition to providing courses in English for children, adolescents and adults, we also organize and support cultural activities (plays, workshops, art exhibits, scholarly lectures, concerts, multi-disciplinary events) and community service programs and projects.
ALC Tangier is a member of the American Cultural Association, a private, non-profit educational and cultural service.

ALC Tangier uses a communicative, student-centered approach to teaching English where students are continuously engaged in skill development through spontaneous interaction with peers. Conversation allows elements of contingency and surprise, impulse and revelation to find expression naturally and meaningfully in real time. By creating clear and authentic contexts for language learning in the classroom, we prepare students for relevant real-life situations they will encounter outside the classroom.

The American Language Center (ALC) Tangier is looking for experienced full-time classroom teachers (21-24 contact hours per week) who are familiar with and supportive of communicative and dynamic student-centered language instruction and the use of ed-tech in the classroom. This entails managing a student-centered classes with regular, varied pair- and group-work activities, games, movement and creative in-class task-based projects as well as managing Google Classrooms for both in-class and asynchronous student use. Fun and effective conversational English instruction is our focus.
