City of Austin VISTA Leader (2022)

City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA

About the organization

The City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program works with City departments and local nonprofits to build capacity, in order to provide resources and services to the Austin neighborhoods and communities that may otherwise be left behind by Austin's historic disparities and future growth. The AmeriCorps members serving with the City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program work in such diverse fields as education, health, waste reduction, and housing to cover the myriad ways poverty affects these neighborhoods and communities.

VISTA Leader will support VISTA members throughout their year of service and as they transition in and out of service; assure that projects effectively meet their capacity building goals; serve as the liaison between project director, site-supervisor, VISTA members, and other stakeholders involved; aid in the planning and coordination of the on-site orientations and other VISTA events; retrieving performance measures from all VISTA members to track the progress of projects; mediate the successful transition of VISTAs so that projects sustain their momentum and effectiveness as new VISTAs come in.
