Citizens of Gulf County Outreach & Communications Coordinator - AmeriCorps VISTA
The Citizens of Gulf County Recovery Team
About the organization
The Citizens of Gulf County Recovery Team works to strengthen Gulf County’s recovery from Hurricane Michael and other disasters through a coordinated community-wide approach which provides for the immediate and long-term unmet needs of our citizens, while advancing preparedness for future disasters. The goal of the project is to build capacity for the Citizens of Gulf County, FL, and the other impacted counties in the Panhandle of Florida. Additionally, a comprehensive outreach and communications will be developed and implemented to improve the effectiveness of Gulf county’s long term recovery team’s ability to identify and assist those households without any means to recover from Hurricane Michael on their own.
VISTA will develop and implement an outreach and communications system through social media, monthly newsletters, and website postings for the residents of Gulf County, FL. Additionally, a fundraising and public relations campaign will be designed and managed to promote the mission and programs of the Citizens of Gulf County Recovery Team, including local media interviews, print media, and social media postings. VISTA will maintain a comprehensive data bank of contacts in Gulf County and across the Florida Panhandle. Finally, the VISTA will assist in the establishment of a Gulf County inter-agency council and local volunteer recruitment.
