About the organization

Be Ready Alliance Coordinating for Emergencies (BRACE) is a community -based disaster coalition that leads in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery efforts in Escambia County.

We train and mobilize volunteers, and collaborate with local, regional, and national partners to ensure the disaster readiness of our community.

BRACE's Youth Engagement and Disabilities Coordinator will engage key leadership throughout Escambia County to continue existing partnerships as well as establishing new engaging youth program that will provide disaster preparedness training through area schools, after school programs, clubs, and community organizations. In addition, the annual Youth Emergency Preparedness Event will be coordinated to engage youth from the surrounding areas to make the next generation more disaster resilient. Finally the VISTA work closely with the BRACE Functional Needs and Support Services (FNSS) Committee to ensure disaster plans and training opportunities are provided for those in the community with disabilities which may make them vulnerable in times of disaster.
