About the organization
Be Ready Alliance Coordinating for Emergencies (BRACE) is a community-based disaster coalition of partners in Pensacola, FL focused on disaster preparedness, response and recovery for our community and throughout the state. Since the founding of BRACE in 2006 following Hurricanes Ivan and Dennis, BRACE have proven that partnership is the key to accomplish together what no individual or organization could alone. BRACE assisted thousands of survivors of hurricanes, floods and tornadoes through the often difficult path to recovery by restoring hope and homes. We have reached over 100,000 individuals with emergency preparedness, training and education that will provide benefit to our community for at least a generation. BRACE's collective impact on resilience of our community have been recognized more frequently by FEMA through the Individual & Community Preparedness Awards Program than any similar organization.
VISTA member will work with local emergency management, faith-based organizations, non-profit organizations, and businesses in the community to identify gaps in emergency services. Additionally, VISTA will coordinate discussion groups to identify solutions to filling the gaps in service. This position works with the BRACE Training Coordinator, BRACE Disaster Planning Coordinator, BRACE Veteran Engagement Coordinator, BRACE Youth Engagement and Disabilities Coordinator, and the BRACE Marketing Coordinator to coordinate outreach meetings and /or events to engage the community in disaster preparedness and mitigation.
College degree preferred, along with strong organizational, networking, and communication skills so that all partners can be engaged in disaster planning. Interest in FEMA disaster preparedness is also encouraged.
