About the organization
Be Ready Alliance Coordinating for Emergencies (BRACE) is a community -based disaster coalition that leads in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery efforts in Escambia County.
We train and mobilize volunteers, and collaborate with local, regional, and national partners to ensure the disaster readiness of our community.
Review VADs. Research, recruit VISTA’s. Design a process for candidate assessment & evaluation. Assist in screening applicants, set up & participate in interviews. Help with the on-site orientation, training & evaluation. Identify learning needs of VISTAs & coordinate professional development. Coordinate four projects for National Days of Service. Conduct monthly meetings with each VISTA member to review VAD goals, progress, & address member needs. Assist VISTAs in clarifying problems & creating solutions. Train VISTA members on the organization’s reporting requirements. Collect monthly reports from VISTA members, review. Guide VISTA members in creating their own sustainability manuals. Suggest changes to the program based on challenges and successes VISTAs have experienced. In collaboration with staff members, create & implement a written plan for project sustainability.
