About the organization
Berkshire Farm Center & Services for Youth was founded in 1886 with a focus of healing and strengthening children in a family setting. Today, our mission continues:
to strengthen children and families so they can live safely, independently, and productively within their home communities.
Responsible for driving and transporting youth to and from appointments and other youth related services.
Maps out routes, itineraries, and destinations. Completes necessary paperwork and reports according to Agency policy and protocol.
Moves or carries cargo onto, into, off of, or out of the vehicle(s) being operated and moves or carries cargo from the vehicle to the delivery or storage point.
Starts, stops, steers and controls vehicles both on the grounds and over the road.
Conducts safety inspection on vehicles prior to operation, including but not limited to checking gauges, fluid levels and tire pressures.
Tends to routine maintenance of vehicles operated including detailing exterior and interior of vehicle
Pumps gas and potentially air to tires if needed while traveling. Ensures any vehicle damage, maintenance, accidents, etc. are reported according to Agency policy and protocol.
Serves as back up for other transportation positions.
Adheres to agency policies and procedures; follows and supports agency mission, vision and values including participating in internal surveys and data collection for continuous improvement initiatives.
This position will comply will all federal, state and local laws and regulations, including those or ORR, ICE and the NYS Office of Children and Family Services
Minimum of High School Diploma and/or equivalent.
Minimum of 1-3 years of driving experience
Must have a current, valid driver’s license per Agency guidelines. Travel required.
Able to work with a culturally and economically diverse population
Ability to converse in English and Spanish
