Ironwood Consulting in an RPCV and woman-owned small business located in Southern California specializing in biological resource management, impact assessments, regulatory permitting, and compliance monitoring.

We are seeking entry level field biologists to assist with upcoming projects for the fall season of 2019 in Southern California and Nevada. Position will be structured as part-time/seasonal with some potential to become longer term.

Duties

• Assisting with taking field inventory of specific biological resources
• Executing environmental compliance and construction monitoring under guidance of
experienced biologists
• Communicating effectively with construction crews and other biologists
• Assisting more experienced biologists with field equipment setup and data collection/entry –
may include heavy lifting and some physical labor
• Organizing and sorting through data
• Will be working in small teams or pairs with more experienced biologists

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in biology, wildlife, zoology, ecology, environment, or similar degree
• Readiness to hike in remote areas for consecutive days, averaging 10 miles a day, within
potentially rough terrain
• Willingness to work in the California/Nevada desert in hot and dry conditions
• Able to lift up to 35 pounds
• Eagerness to learn and be flexible
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record

Salary

$20-$25 per hour depending on experience
